Finally finished my last day of work as a cashier yesterday.
No more looking around for plastic bags in the middle of the night.
No more cracking my brains in order to differentiate the different types of oranges and vegetables.
No more standing up for hours.
No more bending around until my back starts to ache.
No more feeling guilty that my generous plastic-giving ways could seriously accelerate the deterioration of our planet earth.
No more answering to calls of xiao mei.
No more counting wads of dollar bills and bags of coins.
No more chit-chatting with the other cashiers and laughing at their comments.
And the list might go on..
Except I've decided to spare you the agony of reading the entire crap to get to the bottom-line of this post. This experience made me realise how tough it is to work in customer service. Excellency in service does not just depend on the salesperson, cleaner or whoever it may be alone. It really takes two to tango. It's not that I approve of certain sales people who display a bad attitude when handling customers. But if Singaporeans can learn to be more appreciative of good service, I'm sure we'll be able to take a step forward in achieving excellency in this area. It really just takes one appreciative customer for you to feel a sense of pride in your job and be willing to go the extra mile for your customers. So, the next time I'm out, I'm gonna try to be more appreciative of good service. And I'll stop staring at cashiers in order to pressurize them to speed up the checking out process. Hopefully, after reading this, you will too. May this be your new year resolution, though a little late it may be. Happy new year! =)

Had so much fun playing maple today because I met a group of really nice people. And I'm gonna level up again! My character's the second from the left by the way. Partied with them and just talked a lot of crap. Haha!

This few days have been really slack at work for me. There's nothing much to do because it's been raining almost everyday. But I met this really lame guy who just kept talking a lot of crap la. So, nothing much happened the past few days except that I'm working the night shift now. Argh! I need to find another job soon!

Eh, wait, something did actually happen on wednesday night. Something really wierd. I woke up twice in the night searching for plastic bags that customers wanted. I was in a half-dazed state and just walking into every room looking for plastic bags. It happpened not just once but twice. Freaky! Is that considered sleepwalking? Because I was actually thinking but just not entirely alert and aware of my surroundings. I think my brain is seriously messed up. Fortunately, after searching for a while, my brain finally started to unclog itself and I was like "what the hell am I doing searching for plastic bags?! I'm at home, not in the supermarket"! Ahh!! Stupid brain!

I have a new chinese name! Since most of the other cashiers have names starting with xiao, I guess they've decided to give me one too. So from today onwards, pardon me if I fail to respond to my English or real Chinese name because my new name is xiao mei lor! ... Besides a new chinese name, my real chinese name has been given makeovers and spun off into various versions. Version 1: Jie min. Version 2: Jia ming. Forget it, just call me anything you like lah!

Anyway, I went for the NTU talks yesterday. Argh!! It was meant for poly not JC students. The only course that really interested me was the mechanical engineering one. Can't see myself doing a business course and surviving. And the physics talk was so damn boring. I fell asleep. It was like another physics lecture in school except that I completely did not understand what the professor was talking about. I guess we were on a different wavelength from him. But it was quite saddening that there were so few people attending his talk. Poor guy!

I have a sudden urge to blog today, but I don't exactly know why. I guess I just feel like using the English language to communicate right now. These past few days have been kinda strange for me because I've been speaking way more Mandarin than usual. And it made me realise how I desperately need to brush up on my Mandarin. Argh! I need to get an English-speaking job after this. And I need to make sure I don't run into sp again during my working hours.

Anyway, I shall continue or actually end my holiday crap about taiwan today. Hmm..I shall crap about my encounters with the food in Taiwan. I tried chou toufu but I didn't like it at all. They put some sauce that kinda smelt funny, like it was made from some parts of the pig. And almost every night market you go, there will definitely be at least a stall selling it. So..I think I should bring along a mask if I ever go back to Taiwan again. Also, I ate some beef noodles that had a lot of herbs in the soup, which is completely different from those in Singapore. Unfortuntately, I think it was the beef noodles that gave me a bad case of diarhoea and vomitting the next day. Luckily, it only lasted in the morning and I felt much better after that. Ok, not all my encounters with the food there were bad. There were lots of nice snacks and desserts there, that you can't really find in Singapore. So, that's it. I shall never bore you with details about my Taiwan trip again, unless you are having a serious case of insomnia.

It feels kinda wierd not being in school today. I took a bus down to Bukit Merah today and passed by Bukit Timah along the way. For a moment then, I must admit I kinda miss school. Not actually school, but the kind of structure being in school imposed upon me. It's not that I like having someone dictate my every move, but rather it's nice to actually have an idea of what you're gonna do today, tommorrow or the day after tommorrow. It beats having to sit at home and rack your brains to decide what you're gonna do today, only to end up wasting your entire day as usual.

Enough about school, I shall continue blogging about the Taiwan trip. The pic at the bottom was taken from the top of Taipei 101. It just stopped raining at that time and my mum spotted a rainbow. Cool eh? Actually, we only went up to the observation deck at the 89 floor, if I remembered correctly. Stayed up there to watch the sunset and see the lighting up of the buldings in Taipei since we had to spend so much money just to take the world's fastest elevator to the world's tallest building. So, might as well make our money's worth. The pic at the top was taken at this Gold Musuem, where they tell you all about gold mining and some geography. It was situated on some mountains, so the scenery there was breathtaking. However, the weather up there was much colder and we took like an hour just to reach there from our hotel. Anyway, I'm just thankful we managed to find our way around through a lot of help from the Taiwanese. Didn't really get lost, luckily!
